SPR to announce Johor, Negeri Sembilan election dates after special meeting
By Mahgeshan | 12 June 2026
PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia’s Election Commission (SPR) will announce key dates for the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections following a special meeting on Friday (12 June).
SPR chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun chaired the 10.00am meeting at SPR Tower to finalise the election timetable.
A press conference will be held immediately after to release the full schedule.
The commission will announce the writ date, nomination day, early voting, polling day, and the campaign period for both states. It will also brief media on operational preparations.
The meeting follows the dissolution of both state assemblies earlier this month.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi dissolved the 56-seat Johor assembly on 1 June with consent from Acting Sultan Tunku Mahkota Ismail.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun dissolved the 36-seat assembly on 5 June after receiving consent from Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
State elections must now be held within 60 days of dissolution under Malaysian law.
