UKM TO HOST MALAM TEATER KESENIAN 9.0 CELEBRATING STUDENT TALENT AND PERFORMING ARTS

BANGI, 14 June 2026 – The Indian Students Representative Council (Perwakilan Mahasiswa India, PMI) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is set to organize its highly anticipated annual arts programme, Malam Teater Kesenian 9.0, on 14 June 2026 at 7:00 PM at Panggung Seni, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi.

Now in its ninth edition, the programme serves as a platform for students to showcase their talents in theatre and performing arts while fostering a greater appreciation for Malaysian arts and culture. The event also aims to enhance students’ communication, creativity, leadership, and teamwork skills through active involvement in artistic productions.

According to Programme Director Omdeva Navajeevan Kumar, Malam Teater Kesenian has become one of PMI UKM’s signature annual programmes, providing students with valuable opportunities to express themselves through the performing arts.

“Through theatre, students are able to develop confidence, strengthen their interpersonal skills, and convey meaningful messages that resonate with society. This programme reflects our commitment to nurturing creative talents while preserving the rich cultural heritage of our nation,” he said.

Malam Teater Kesenian has been organized annually for the past nine years, consistently highlighting theatrical productions created and performed by UKM students. Over the years, the programme has grown into a respected platform that encourages artistic excellence and promotes cultural appreciation within the university community.

This year’s edition is organized in collaboration with Malaysia Kalai Ulagam (MKU), a strategic partner that continues to support initiatives aimed at promoting arts, culture, and creative expression among young people.

The highlight of the evening will be a theatre drama performance presented by UKM students. The production is expected to explore themes of humanity, society, and moral values through compelling storytelling, dynamic performances, and thought-provoking narratives.

In addition to the theatrical performance, the audience can look forward to multimedia presentations and artistic showcases designed to create an immersive and engaging theatre experience. The programme seeks to inspire greater appreciation for performing arts among students and members of the public.

The event is open to university students, lecturers, alumni, invited guests, university staff, art enthusiasts, and the general public. Organizers anticipate a strong turnout from individuals who share a passion for theatre, culture, and artistic expression.

Through Malam Teater Kesenian 9.0, PMI UKM hopes to continue empowering young talents, strengthening cultural appreciation, and creating meaningful opportunities for students to develop their artistic potential while contributing positively to society.
