Parti Cinta Malaysia committee resigns en masse; 198 members approve rebrand in closed-door PJ AGM

PETALING JAYA, 21 June 2026 - Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) has effectively become Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) after its entire committee resigned and members voted to rebrand the party at a closed-door annual general meeting (AGM) in Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, PJ, Saturday (20 June).

Sources at the AGM said 198 members attended, meeting quorum requirements. 

The meeting elected a new leadership line-up with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as President, Tan Sri Rais Yatim as Chairman, and Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah as Secretary-General and a few others who were sacked from Bersatu. 

PCM founder and former President Datuk Huan Cheng Guan was also named as one of the Vice-Presidents.

Wawasan Negara also appointed Vice-Presidents from various backgrounds: Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan, Datuk Leong Kim Soon, and Datuk Mohd Omar Mustapha. 

The sole agenda was to change the party’s name and logo to Wawasan. 

Members were warned not to take photographs, videos or voice recordings. No press conference was held after the meeting.

It is understood the name-change application will be submitted to the Registrar of Societies on Monday for approval.

Reset finds its party machinery

The move follows Hamzah’s announcement on 13 June 2026 at the Konvensyen Reset Malaysia in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, where he unveiled Wawasan as the new “home” for his Gerakan Reset Malaysia movement. 

According to Hamzah, the name was proposed by PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Wawasan is a splinter from Bersatu after Hamzah was sacked in February 2026 during a leadership tussle with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Wawasan, which uses red, blue and white in its logo, is positioning itself as a component of Perikatan Nasional (PN). 

Analysts note Wawasan already commands the backing of 19 MPs aligned with Hamzah. 

At its launch, PAS President Hadi and PN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar were present alongside Gerakan President Dominic Lau, signalling cooperation with PAS, Gerakan and other like-minded parties.

With the Constitution already amended and the leadership transition completed at Saturday's AGM, Wawasan can now proceed with ROS approval and move straight into preparations for elections.
