KUALA LUMPUR, 1 July 2026 — Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) has claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim “betrayed” Johor Felda settlers following the last-minute cancellation of the 2026 Johor-level Settlers’ Day celebration. 

In a statement on Tuesday (30 June), Wawasan Information Chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Felda settlers in Johor were “shocked” and “disappointed” by the cancellation of the two-day event scheduled for June 20-21 at Felda Ulu Belitong, Kluang. 

“Settlers were looking forward to gifts or announcements from the Government,” he said. 

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the Johor State Government was informed by Felda Johor on 17 June that the celebration had been “ordered to be cancelled”. 

The Machang MP questioned “who ordered it and why”, noting that Felda is an agency “under the supervision of the Prime Minister’s Department”. 

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said to a question by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in Parliament, the answer was given by Anwar was shallow and unreasonable. 

"The reason given by Anwar is shallow and unreasonable”, he said adding that the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration was planned before state elections were decided. 

Wan Ahmad Fahysal also said, the June 20-21 dates for the celebration also did not fall within an election campaign period.

“No issue of government machinery being misused for election purposes here,” he said pointing out a 15 June 2026 live RTM broadcast of the Pakatan Harapan ceramah, ‘Keadilan Untuk Bangsa Johor’, as a clearer case of government assets being used for party purposes. 

Anwar “denied” it was a PMO directive and maintained the reason was “to avoid misuse of government machinery during the election season”. 

“Felda is one of the country’s largest contributors to GDP through sectors such as agro-commodities.

"Therefore, the cancellation of the 2026 Johor-level Settlers’ Day celebration is a betrayal and they must punish Pakatan Harapan for this,” Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said.
