Bangladesh launches 'Pink' bus service exclusively for women passengers

DHAKA 19 Aug— Bangladesh has rolled out a dedicated "Pink Bus" service, operated entirely by women staff, to ensure safer and more comfortable public transport for female commuters.

The fleet, painted bright pink, will fall under the direct management of the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC).

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam said the service will eventually be expanded to major cities and towns across the country, starting from the capital.

"This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to making women’s mobility safer in public transport. From boarding to reaching their destination, women passengers will be assured of their safety throughout the journey — with the entire service managed by female personnel," he stated.

Shaikh Rabiul Alam also urged BRTC to continuously monitor the new service and make necessary improvements based on feedback from women commuters.
