Community Spirit Shines at Pantai Jerejak Durian Festival
PENANG, June 28 — Community unity and togetherness took centre stage as residents gathered for the annual Durian Vibes @ Pantai Jerejak programme held at the Pantai Jerejak KRT Hall compound.
The event, which offered free durian to visitors, attracted residents from various backgrounds and served as a platform to strengthen social ties while celebrating the local durian harvest season.
Organisers said the programme was aimed at promoting harmony, mutual respect and closer relationships among the multicultural community in the constituency. Although the durian season comes only once a year, they noted that the gathering reflects an ongoing commitment to building strong community bonds.
Speaking at the event, Fahmi Zainol said the tradition of sharing and celebrating together has become an important part of the constituency's identity.
“This event reflects the strength of our community, where shared blessings bring happiness to everyone. Such traditions will continue to be an important part of our efforts to engage with and support the Pantai Jerejak family,” he said.
Residents responded positively to the programme, with many taking the opportunity to meet neighbours and strengthen friendships within the community.
The strong turnout highlighted the value of grassroots initiatives in creating inclusive and united neighbourhoods. Organisers said programmes of this nature help bridge cultural and social differences while encouraging greater community participation.
The event also supports the aspirations of the Federal Government’s Malaysia Madani framework and the state's Penang2030 vision, both of which emphasise sustainable development, social harmony and resilient communities.
Pantai Jerejak leaders reaffirmed their commitment to organising more community-focused programmes to strengthen social solidarity and ensure that development benefits all residents.
