GEORGE TOWN, Aug 4-- Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong will present several policy proposals to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) recent electoral setback.

Sim, who is also the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, said the proposals will address the core concerns of small and medium-sized businesses.

"I will take these ideas straight to the Prime Minister so he can hear the actual needs of the people on the ground," he said at a party dinner here tonight.

Listening to Voters

Sim stressed that DAP must listen closely to voters, improve state administration, and strengthen internal unity while standing firm on its principles.He also plans to meet Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow soon to review and improve state government policies to boost public confidence.The move follows the Negeri Sembilan state election yesterday, where PH won only 11 out of 36 seats, while Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) secured a combined 25 seats. DAP kept nine of its 11 seats, losing Chennah and Repah to MCA.

Bouncing Back from Defeats

When asked if hosting the dinner right after a defeat would demoralise members, Sim countered that DAP has survived much worse crises in its history.
He also brushed off claims by PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari that a BN-PN alliance could eventually topple the Penang government.
"They are acting arrogant after their victory. Let them be. DAP and PH will simply work harder to defend Penang," Sim added.
Meanwhile, former Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik described the Negeri Sembilan loss as a serious wake-up call but noted it gives the party a vital chance to reconnect with the grassroots.
