'Defamatory and Malicious’: Wan Saiful Files RM10m Suit Against Tun Faisal

SHAH ALAM, 14 July 2026 — Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan has filed a civil suit seeking RM10 million in damages against Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz over alleged defamatory remarks made on a podcast last year.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (14 July 2026), Wan Saiful, who is now Vice-President of Parti Wawasan Negara said his lawyers filed the writ of summons and statement of claim at the Shah Alam Civil High Court on 13 July 2026.

The suit stems from comments made by Tun Faisal during The Tiger Show podcast on 31 Oct 2025.

According to Wan Saiful, his lawyers first wrote to Tun Faisal on 3 Dec 2025 demanding a retraction, a public apology and RM10 million in damages.

Tun Faisal’s lawyers replied on 12 Jan 2026 stating that he would not meet the demands. Wan Saiful’s legal team responded again on 2 March 2026, asking Tun Faisal to propose a settlement.

“After waiting four months with no response, I instructed my lawyers to issue a final letter dated 7 July 2026 requesting a substantive proposal for settlement,” Wan Saiful said.

As there was still no reply, he said he had directed his lawyers to commence legal proceedings.

Wan Saiful alleged that the defamatory statement implied he had received a Jana Wibawa project because Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had awarded it to him.

“The defamation is not only false and damaging to my reputation, but it also carries the implication that Tan Sri Muhyiddin is guilty of abuse of power,” he said.

Wan Saiful was Bersatu Information Chief from 2020 to 2023 and a member of the party’s Supreme Leadership Council until October 2025.
