TTAYA, THAILAND — A grim discovery has shocked the coastal resort city of Pattaya after the body of a 17-year-old Thai girl was found stuffed inside a suitcase abandoned near a local railway line. Following the discovery, Thai authorities apprehended a 46-year-old Australian national at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok as he reportedly attempted to flee the country.

 The victim, identified as Thanyachanok Donhomlao, had been reported missing after she was last seen entering a condominium in the Jomtien area in the early hours of June 25, 2026, accompanied by an Australian tourist, Simon Peter Carman.

 According to police investigators, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the pair entering the condominium complex hand-in-hand at approximately 3:34 AM, heading toward a unit on the 15th floor. Surveillance footage did not record the teenager leaving the building.

 Approximately 15 hours later, further CCTV footage captured the suspect exiting the condominium alone, struggling to transport a large black suitcase. He was seen loading the heavy luggage onto the back of a motorcycle before riding toward a secluded area near the local railway tracks. Subsequent footage showed Carman returning to the condominium without the suitcase.

 The highly suspicious movements prompted Pattaya police to conduct a targeted search along the suspect’s recorded route. Officers eventually located the abandoned suitcase approximately 4.2 kilometres from the condominium.

 Upon opening the luggage, police discovered the unclothed body of a young female curled inside. Preliminary examinations revealed multiple visible injuries on her face and body, consistent with a severe physical assault. While formal identification is pending forensic and DNA confirmation, investigators strongly believe the deceased is Thanyachanok, matching her physical characteristics and distinctive tattoos.

 Following a swift inter-agency coordinate, Simon Peter Carman was intercepted by immigration authorities at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on the afternoon of June 26, 2026. Police reported that the suspect was in the process of purchasing a flight ticket back to Australia when he was detained. Officers noted visible scratch marks on his neck and arms, suggesting a physical struggle had taken place.

 During initial questioning, Carman denied any involvement in the teenager's death. He claimed that the victim had voluntarily left his room while he was asleep and asserted no knowledge of how she ended up in the suitcase.

 The Pattaya Provincial Court has officially issued an arrest warrant for Carman on initial charges of taking away a minor from parental or guardian custody for immoral purposes. Royal Thai Police investigators have stated that additional, more severe charges—including homicide and concealing a body—are expected to be laid once the formal autopsy results and forensic analyses are completed.

 The tragic incident has sparked widespread public concern and outrage across Thailand, drawing intense scrutiny to safety measures for minors in tourist areas.
