PETALING JAYA, 15 June 2026 — Social media influencer Eric See-To, better known as Lim Sian See, and Jabatan Komunikasi Komuniti (J-KOM) director-general Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali have traded barbs over a controversial Facebook post.
The dispute began when Sian See questioned the necessity and effectiveness of the RM16 million allocated to J-KOM under the MADANI administration.
Later, Mohd Hisyamuddin also known as Syam Ghaz posted a message labelling Sian See and businessman Albert Tei Jiann Cheing “Cina sesat” (misguided Chinese) and “opposition lackeys”.
Syam Ghaz removed the controversial Facebook post following swift condemnation from both opposition figures and politicians within the ruling government.
“I will send Lim Sian See a letter of demand over accusations that he made racist remarks,” Syam Ghaz said in a Facebook post without specifying which remarks by Sian See he allegedly deemed racist.
Sian See fired back with a 14-day ultimatum, challenging Syam Ghaz to file the lawsuit immediately or face counter-legal action for the civil tort of misfeasance in public office.
“If Syam Ghaz fails to file a court summons against me within the next two weeks, I will take legal action against him,” Sian See, who is also the former Barisan Nasional strategic communications deputy director, said in a Facebook post.
Sian See added he would also name the communications minister, the director-general of public services and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as co-defendants in a civil suit for abuse of power in a public office.
Syam Ghaz countered that Sian See had “twisted his words to make it seem as though he had attacked all Chinese people, when he had specifically targeted Sian See and businessman Albert Tei”.
The J-KOM chief has since lodged a police report.
Syam Ghaz was appointed J-KOM director-general on 8 June 2026, replacing Datuk Ismail Yusop who was reassigned to the Prime Minister’s Office in a leadership reshuffle announced by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
J-KOM, under the Communications Ministry, is tasked with disseminating government policies and community outreach programmes.
Syam Ghaz has clashed repeatedly with government critics on Facebook since taking office. - AlaiOli
